The Donut & the Scarf!

If you’re a lover of Dunkin’ Donuts, like me, you may be interested in hearing that the company recently pulled an advert featuring American TV Chef Rachel Ray wearing a silk black and white scarf with a paisley design!

Bear with me, it seems the scarf had ‘offended’ the ultra right wing Michelle Malkin of Fox News who started a campaign to boycott Dunkin’ Donuts because she felt “The keffiyeh, for the clueless, is the traditional scarf of Arab men that has come to symbolize murderous Palestinian jihad”. Of course if Malkin had any credibility as a Journalist she would know that Muslim men do not wear silk - phhh!

America being what it is and big corporations having no stomach for truth or justice, Dunkin’ Donut capitualted and pulled the advert stating “In a recent online ad, Rachael Ray is wearing a black-and-white silk scarf with a paisley design. It was selected by her stylist for the advertising shoot. Absolutely no symbolism was intended. However, given the possibility of misperce…

15th May 2009 – A day to Remember the Martyrs of Islam

So the 60th anniversary of the Nakba - Catastrophe - had come and gone, how was it for you? There were the odd remembrance rallies here and there, some seminars and much Dua. I thank Allah that we at least made some Dua – right?
Here is the thing, personally I found that the remembrance of this disaster, when the Palestinians were terrorised out of their lands by Zionist’s, killing, raping, maiming and using every terrorist act imaginable to usurp the land that belonged to Palestinians, a bit of a damp squib. The West has shown its hand and it can never be more clearer than the praise received by George ‘Dubya’ Bush from members of the Zionist occupiers (Kensett) “Bush seems to be more Zionist than Olmert”, and that “it is better to have Bush as a PM instead of Olmert”
So where did Bush remember the Palestinians? He didn’t – and why should he! I expect no less from Bush, Blair, Brown or Milliband. Allah has reminded us why they will not, read surah Baqarah verse 120. My issue is with th…

‘Ahlan’ Mayor Boris

What an election! We have the first Conservative Mayor for London and we also have the first racist Islamophobe from the BNP in the London Assembly. So what do we make of this? Is this the end of an era or is it a beginning of a new one?
As ever, the outgoing Mayor was humble and dignified in his defeat, “I’m sorry I couldn’t get an extra few points that would take us to victory and the fault for that is solely my own.” Well Ken it’s not your fault it’s the fault of about 140,000 Londoners’ that either did not vote or voted on the back of some unsavoury campaigning by the ultra right-wing Evening Standard. So what caused this shock result? Was it anti-Brown or anti-Labour sentiments? Was it the recognition that ‘the Conservatives have changed into a party that can again be trusted after 30 years’? Was it the overt support of Muslims 4 Ken, as some have commented? Or was it the politics of fear created by the government and media? Can it even be as simple as ‘he’s been there too long’? …
